Centre College Academy
Title
Centre College Academy
Description
Reproduction of an undated photograph of the Centre College Academy. Constructed in 1868, the school was housed in this building which stood at the corner of Walnut Street and College Street. In 1916 the site was sold to the Danville Board of Education, and the building was razed. In its place Danville constructed its first high school building. Centre reacquired the site from the Danville Board of Education in 1961 and later razed the high school building in order to build the Regional Arts Center. Standing to the left is the Presbyterian Church.
