CC-62 Student Army Training Corps (World War I)
Sketch
The establishment of Student Army Training Corps units was authorized by the Selective Service Act of 1917. The Students' Army Training Corps utilized the facilities, equipment, and faculty of colleges and universities to select and train officer candidates and provide technical and vocational training during World War I. Instructors were to be hired under a temporary contract, with the universities and colleges subsequently reimbursed by the government for the added expense of providing facilities and staff for the Corps. Dissolution of the Corps began with the armistice on November 11, 1918.
